Cryo-EM sample preparation and data collection

The purpose of the course is to prepare and train our users in sample preparation methods, introduce users to image data acquisition workflow, expand knowledge about cryo-EM methods among Swedish researchers and finally show that everyone can learn how to use cryo-EM, if this method is needed in a project. Application deadline: April 25, 2019

2019-05-21 - 2019-05-23, Course | Uppsala

Biostatistics Essentials: a blackboard approach

In this course we focus on active learning approach. The course participants are expected to do some pre-course reading and exercises, corresponding up to 16h studying. The education consists of teaching blocks alternating between mini-lectures, group discussions, live coding sessions etc. A special focus is put on understanding basic concepts by solving problems with pen and paper. We believe in less-is-more principle, so be ready to say no to digital exhaustion to truly learn something with our modern “blackboard approach”. Application deadline: March 31, 2019

2019-05-20 - 2019-05-24, Course | Gothenburg

Introduction to Bioinformatics using NGS data, Gothenburg

The course will provide an entry-level introduction to a wide range of analytical techniques for massively parallel sequencing, including basic Linux commands. We will pair lectures on the theory of analysis algorithms with practical computational exercises demonstrating the use of common tools for analyzing data from each of several common sequencing study designs. Application deadline: April 9, 2019

2019-05-20 - 2019-05-24, Course | Gothenburg

Quick and clean: advanced Python for data science in biology

This course is built around Python philosophy of being quick and clean (the so called Zen of Python) and thus assumes anything taking more than three days to learn is probably not worth the effort. For convenience it is structured based on the industry way of classifying big data jobs: data analytics, data science, data engineering. Application deadline: 2-3 weeks before the course starts.

Introduction to Genome Annotation

The course is aimed at researchers that are involved in on-going or upcoming genome projects and wish to deepen their understanding of the various forms of data and computational steps required to achieve a comprehensive annotation. The focus of the course will be on non-model eukaryote organisms, and in particular the structural annotation of protein coding genes. Application deadline: April 8, 2019
