Conference on RNA and Disease

On 18-20 Nov, the RNA and Disease conference takes place in Uppsala. Keynote speakers will be Joan A. Steitz, who will give the 6th Lennart Philipson Memorial Lecture on Sunday Nov 18 and Adrian R. Krainer, who will give the SciLifeLab The Svedberg seminar on Monday Nov 19. A list of confirmed speakers can be found below. Joan Steitz is one of this year’s Lasker prize winners and Adrian Krainer is the scientist behind the development of the Spinraza pharmaceutical drug that treats spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). There was a documentary on Swedish national TV (SVT) a year ago that described the clinical testing of Spinraza.

The conference will consist of oral presentations and poster sessions. Poster prizes, supported by the international RNA Society, will be given to posters presented by graduate students and/or post-doctoral fellows.

The delegate fee will be 500-1850 SEK depending on category of delegate, special student fees are available. The application deadline is 1 November, to be guaranteed a seat at Welcome Reception and Dinner. Abstract submission deadline is 1 November.

The conference has received financial support from The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences through its Nobel Institute for Chemistry, The EU Twinning network MEDGENET, the SciLifeLab in Uppsala, the international RNA Society and the RNA Society of Sweden.
