Subtomogram Averaging

Course on cryo electron tomography (cryo-ET) Subtomogram Averaging – methodologies and applications.
The course is aimed to PhD students, postdocs and researchers in general that are already familiar with cryo-ET, know how to reconstruct tomograms and have possibly attended the cryo-ET introductory course that was held in Umeå in 2019 or similar courses.

The course will consist of talks in the morning sessions until lunch and an open poster session with practicals taking place afterwards. Topics include:

• Data collection strategies
• Pre-processing and tilt-series alignment
• CTF-correction
• Particle picking methods
• Alignment strategies
• 3D-classification methods
• Post-processing and resolution

Confirmed international tutors are Gijs van der Schot (Max Plank Institute of Biochemistry, Germany), Dmitry Tegunov (Max Plank Institute of Biophysical Chemistry, Germany) , Giulia Zanetti (ISMB,Bikbeck College, UK) , Yang Wen (Leiden University, The Netherland) , Daniel Castaño Díez (Biozentrum, University of Basel, Switzerland), Wim Hagen (EMBL Heidelberg, Germany).
