SciLifeLab is looking for a new Director

A new Director will be recruited to SciLifeLab from July 2015. The new scientific leader will take over the responsibility from Professor Mathias Uhlén who will leave his post after almost six successful years.

“We are looking for someone highly motivated to create a scientifically strong, interdisciplinary and national center”, says Göran Sandberg, Chairman of the SciLifeLab Board. “The candidate is also expected to have extensive experience in both large-scale molecular biosciences as well as in hypothesis-driven research.”

The new Director will lead the continued scientific, technical and structural development of SciLifeLab during the coming six years. The Director is the center’s scientific leader and reports to the Board of SciLifeLab. He or she will work with the Co-Director and Scientific Directors to develop the center’s research profile and to create a strong and welcoming research environment. The Director will also interact with the SciLifeLab Platform Directors to ensure that the center offers a range of world-class technologies.

“An important task for the new Director is to build bridges to other research environments in the country in order to develop SciLifeLab into a genuine national resource”, says Göran Sandberg.

The selected candidate could combine the position as Director with a professorship at one of the four host universities if he or she wants to.  The appointment includes a significant research grant and start up package.
