Survey to Head of Units about industry users of SciLifeLab infrastructure

This survey is sent to SciLifeLab head of unit. Please answer before Friday February 21st.
The overall goal is to identify the different bottlenecks and challenges when it comes to industry service and collaboration and to support the units and universities to develop functional processes. All SciLifeLab funded units should be open for industry in line with the SciLifeLab funding terms and conditions and are so according to reported infrastructure data. This is part of the project SciLifeLab Industry Access funded by Vinnova.

The survey takes between 5-10 minutes to complete.

Has the unit had industry users or collaborations during the years 2023–2024.
Approximately how often per year is the unit approached by potential industry users?
Has the unit turned down industry users, or an initiated industry contact which did not result in a user or collaboration during 2024?
If an industry contact did not lead to use, please specify reason.
How are industry projects prioritised (compared to academic and healthcare projects, and once the project is considered feasible)? More than one option possible.

When industry uses the infrastructure this can be as a service (tekniskt tjänst/vara) or collaborative research (samverkansforsknings), or contract research (uppdragsforskning). The Competition Act (konkurrenslagstiftningen) and state aid regulations define that industry service is at up to full cost or market price. Below are questions related to pricing of the infrastructure services.

Does the unit have a full cost model?
Are you confident with your full-cost model and how to implement it?
Is the cost model developed together with economic support from a university controller?

Maximum file size: 52.43MB

Is there a need for (more) support from the university to update the full cost model?
Do you know who to contact for help with pricing calculations at your university?

Contracts for the infrastructure can be everything from e-mail agreements to signed documents. Being in agrement prior to the service is provided is important. The following questions are designed to identify your needs related to setting up agreements and contracts.

Who signs the contract for company access when using the infrastructure unit resources? This differ between universities and units and we want to map this for SciLifeLab.
Does your unit or university have standard user agreements for industry users?
Do you know who to contact for help with contracts at your university?
What is most challenging in relations to industry users of your SciLifeLab infrastructure unit? Multiple choice possible.
Would you like SciLifeLab to organize more outreach towards industry?
