Other SciLifeLab Efforts in the Pandemic

Rapid testing of SARS-Cov-2 in national coordination with health care

Commissioned by the Public Health Agency of Sweden, this effort focused on scaling up testing of COVID-19 on a national level. The laboratory could analyze 5 000 COVID-19 samples a day and all Swedish regions could utilize the laboratory and send samples for analysis.

Development of high-throughput serology testing capability

This effort focuses on developing and implementing a reliable serological test that can detect antibodies against COVID-19, in order to verify if an individual has previously been infected with the virus. The laboratory is currently analyzing 7 000 samples a week, using a method showing very high accuracy in the validation process.

Sampling of COVID-19 patients for analysis of disease pathogenesis

The aim of this project is to establish longitudinal sampling systems for COVID-19 patients, in order to follow the disease pathogenesis, learn more about the disease and enable targeted treatments. The project also focuses on collecting the samples in a biobank, to make further studies of the virus possible, both now and in the future.
