DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 3rd edition of the Integrated Structural Biology course\, organized by SciLifeLab and NordStruct. The course will take place over two weeks across Stockholm\, Linköping\, Lund\, and Gothenburg. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDuring the course\, you will be introduced to a wide range of structural biology techniques available at research infrastructures in Sweden. The program combines lectures\, site visits\, and hands-on discussions\, offering opportunities for in-depth learning\, networking\, and project-specific discussions with experts. \n\n\n\nIn addition to the scientific program\, the course includes social activities such as dinners and informal gatherings\, providing further opportunities to connect with fellow participants and instructors. \n\n\n\nThe course will cover: \n\n\n\n\nCryo-EM\n\n\n\nNMR\n\n\n\nStructural proteomics\n\n\n\nCrystallography\n\n\n\nSAXS/SANS\n\n\n\nBiophysical characterization\n\n\n\nComputational aspects\, including AlphaFold\n\n\n\nProtein production\n\n\n\n\nThe program also includes student presentations and visits to key research infrastructures. \n\n\n\nPractical details\n\n\n\nThe course begins with three days in Stockholm\, followed by two days in Linköping to complete the first week. Recent work from his lab identified synthetic cell programs to enhance cell and gene therapies and developed new methods to identify causal noncoding variants and their target genes at scale. Dr. Sanjana is a recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Engineers and Scientists\, AAAS Wachtel Prize for Cancer Research\, the NIH’s New Innovator Award\, the Cancer Research Institute Technology Impact Award\, the DARPA Young Faculty Award\, the Kimmel Scholar Award\, the MRA Young Investigator Award\, and also is a Leichtung Family Investigator of the Brain and Behavior Foundation. \n\n\n\nGenome-scale screens to program new T cell states for next-generation immunotherapy\n\n\n\nThe engineering of patient T-cells for adoptive cell therapies has revolutionized the treatment of several cancer types\, but further improvements are needed to increase response and cure rates. T-cell–mediated anti-tumor immunity relies on potent cytotoxic effector function\, whereas durable tumor clearance depends on stemness-driven long-term persistence. However\, endogenous T-cell differentiation programs render these phenotypes mutually exclusive: Effector maturation physiologically depletes the stem-like reservoir. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells\, despite their impact on blood cancer treatment\, remain bound by this intrinsic biological trade-off. \n\n\n\nTo identify new genetic programs for effective cell therapy\, we overexpressed ~12\,000 barcoded human open reading frames (ORFs) and measured their impact on proliferation of primary human CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells. When overexpressed\, the top-ranked ORF\, lymphotoxin beta receptor (LTBR)\, induced profound transcriptional and epigenomic remodelling\, increasing T-cell effector functions\, as well as resistance to exhaustion in chronic stimulation settings\, via constitutive activation of the canonical NF-kB pathway. \n\n\n\nUsing this gene\, we develop a novel CAR that decouples effector differentiation from the loss of stemness. Direct fusion of the intracellular domain of the T-cell proliferation driver LTBR to the CD3ζ tail induces a shared pro-inflammatory effector program in both CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ CAR T cells. In the CD4⁺ compartment\, this effector differentiation is accompanied by an overlay of stemness-associated gene modules (TCF7 and LEF1)\, resulting in a superimposed state where pro-inflammatory and self-renewal programs coexist. This dual phenotype is dependent on the CAR configuration and is not recapitulated by LTBR co-expression. In CAR T cells engineered from diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients\, the LTBR-fusion CAR sustains tumor suppression after several rounds of repetitive tumor challenge. This lineage-specific phenotype is consistent with clinical observations linking durable remissions to persistent\, effector-competent CD4⁺ CAR T cells. Together\, our CAR engineering approach overrides canonical T cell differentiation constraints to yield dysfunction-resistant therapies\, elucidating the functional basis of lineage-specific CD4⁺ CAR T-cell responses. \n\n\n\nHost: Sanja Vickovic sanja.vickovic@scilifelab.uu.se UU

SUMMARY:Massively-parallel approaches to understand the human noncoding genome and transcriptome
DESCRIPTION:Professor Neville Sanjana\, NYU\, United States \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstract\n\n\n\nProfessor Sanjana will present recent work from his lab on two topics: variant-to-function challenges in noncoding genomics and the development of RNA-targeting CRISPR screens to pinpoint functional noncoding RNAs.  \n\n\n\nFirst\, since most disease-associated GWAS variants map to noncoding regions\, we combined ancestrally diverse biobanks\, massively parallel CRISPR screens\, and single-cell sequencing to identify 124 target genes across 91 blood trait loci — enabling large-scale characterization of human GWAS variants and mechanisms. This work is part of an ongoing collaboration with Prof. Tuuli Lappalainen (KTH and SciLifeLab).  \n\n\n\nSecond\, while thousands of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are transcribed\, less than 1% have established roles. Using RNA-targeting CRISPR-Cas13 screens\, we evaluated 5\,500 lncRNAs across five cell lines and identified 788 essential lncRNAs. Most function independently of neighboring protein-coding genes and exhibit dynamic expression during development. SUMMARY:From Messy Data to Clean Datasets: A Practical Introduction to OpenRefine
DESCRIPTION:Messy and inconsistent data is a common challenge in research\, often making it difficult to analyse\, share\, and reuse data effectively. Improving data quality is therefore a key step towards more reproducible research and better alignment with Open Science and FAIR principles. \n\n\n\nIn this session\, we will introduce OpenRefine\, an open-source tool designed to help researchers explore\, clean\, and transform messy tabular data. OpenRefine is particularly useful for working with spreadsheets and datasets containing inconsistencies such as duplicate entries\, varying formats\, or typographical errors. \n\n\n\nWe will begin with a short introduction to the types of data challenges OpenRefine can address\, followed by a live demonstration showing how to work with real data. DESCRIPTION:SciLifeLab CoARA working group invites you to the first in a series of webinars during the autumn 2026. We welcome  Dr Malgorzata Lagisz\, School of Biological SciencesUniversity of Alberta\, Canada  presenting “Improving Science with Science: Open Research\, Equity\, and Contributor Recognition” on Sept 9th. \n\n\n\nWhen: Sept 9\, at 15-16 CEST on Zoom \n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\nAbstract \n\n\n\nScience faces growing challenges related to reproducibility\, transparency\, equity\, and trust. In this seminar\, I will discuss how Open Science practices and meta-research can work together to improve the reliability and inclusivity of scientific research.  Dr Lagisz will introduce key ideas behind the Open Science movement and present examples of meta-research projects from the group and global collaborations investigating research culture\, contributor recognition\, and equity in science. These include large-scale analyses of authorship and acknowledgment practices\, revealing that many important scientific contributions remain poorly recognised and invisible in scholarly databases. Together\, these projects demonstrate how empirical research on science itself can help identify structural barriers and inform practical reforms to improve transparency\, collaboration\, and fairness in research systems. Dr Lagisz will conclude by sharing resources and tools for contributing to a more open\, trustworthy\, and collaborative scientific enterprise. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nShort bio: Dr Malgorzata (“Losia”) Lagisz is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta. With prior appointments in UK\, New Zealand\, and Australia\, her interdisciplinary research spans ecology\, evolutionary biology\, biomedical science\, environmental studies\, and social science. She uses evidence synthesis (systematic reviews\, meta‑analyses\, systematic maps\, and meta‑epidemiology) to tackle critical questions across disciplines. Dr Lagisz co‑leads a team dedicated to advancing evidence synthesis\, Open Science and equity in research. SUMMARY:Synthetic DNA for in-product data storage and cryptography
DESCRIPTION:Robert Grass\, Functional Materials Laboratory\, Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences\, ETH Zurich \n\n\n\nShort abstract:DNA data storage has emerged as technical solution to store digital data at very high data densities. In addition\, data in DNA can be rendered stable for long time horizons by the application of nanotechnological preservation technologies\, using both sol-gel as well as metal organic framework approaches. In practical terms\, DNA data storage offers data stability for hundreds of years and data densities exceeding 40 exabytes per gram. While this brings opportunities in the field of cloud storage applications\, our research focuses more on ideas in combining DNA data storage with materials. It is our ultimate goal to give materials a digital identity. We have so far investigated applications in 3d printing\, pharmaceuticals\, construction materials and polymer recycling. I will not only be discussing the technical advantages and limitations\, but will also touch on practicability and technology commercialisation aspects. I will conclude the presentation on a second class of lesser-known digital technologies\, which uses physical and chemical randomness to create unclonable functions\, and allows a discussion of physical randomness in the context of digital cryptography.

DESCRIPTION:This conference focuses on the PROMISE Cancer effort led by Swedish scientists representing Stockholm\, Uppsala\, Umeå\, Linköping\, Lund\, and Gothenburg as well as SciLifeLab. \n\n\n\nThe goal of the conference is to expand the PROMISE Cancer initiative\, promote its efforts\, and continue building the Swedish cancer community. \n\n\n\nAbout PROMISE\n\n\n\nPrecision Omics Initiative Sweden (PROMISE) is a national initiative using genomics and multiomics to understand common diseases\, rare diseases\, and cancer. \n\n\n\nRead more about PROMISE\n\n\n\nProgram and speakers\n\n\n\nCancer encompasses more than 200 distinct diseases\, each with widely varying prognoses\, ranging from highly treatable to aggressive cancers with poor outcomes. By engineering the tumor microenvironment using and oncolytic adenoviral gene vector encoding TMZ-CD40L and 4-1BBL (LOAd703)\, we aim to rewire the immunosuppressive state in the patients to drive anti-tumor immune responses allowing for continued immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) treatment of refractor patients and/or ICI treatment of indications previously not responding to ICI. LOAd703 plus ICI have been tested in melanoma patients (n=24) refractory to one or several lines of prior ICI\, and in pancreatic cancer patients (LOAd703 +standard chemotherapy\, n=21; LOAd703 + ICI + standard chemotherapy\, n=24) who are commonly not responding to ICI. In these Phase I/II clinical trials blood and biopsies were analyzed for the initiation of immune responses locally in the tumor microenvironment as well as systemically in blood. \n\n\n\nThe treatment was well tolerated with common adverse events related to chemotherapy (pancreatic cancer) or ICI (melanoma and pancreatic cancer). LOAd703 attributed adverse events included fever\, chills\, and cytokine release syndrome\, mostly grade 1 or 2. Both in melanoma and pancreatic cancer\, LOAd703 promoted a typical Th1 type of immune response post treatment initiation which was noted both in the tumor and in blood. Similarly\, tumor responses were noted in both indications as evaluated with Olink proteomics\, NanoString Technology\, and flow cytometry. In conclusion\, LOAd703 can be used together with chemotherapy and/or ICI treatment to rewire the immunosuppressive state in patients towards Th1 immunity and subsequently controlling tumor growth in patients. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nProf. Anna Martner\nUniversity of Gothenburg\, Sweden.  \n\n\n\nTitle: NOX2-derived ROS as drivers of metastatic progression \n\n\n\nBiosketch: Anna Martner is a group leader at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research\, University of Gothenburg. Her research focuses on myeloid cell-mediated immunosuppression\, NOX2-derived ROS\, tumor cell plasticity\, and metastasis. She trained with Professors Kristoffer Hellstrand and Dmitry Gabrilovich and spent a 2019 sabbatical in Professor Robert Weinberg’s laboratory at MIT studying EMT. \n\n\n\nAbstract: The efficacy of cancer immunotherapy depends on the balance between anti-tumor effector cells\, including natural killer (NK) cells and T cells\, and mechanisms of tumor-associated immunosuppression. Inflammatory myeloid cells\, including myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs)\, contribute to immune evasion through several mechanisms\, among them the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by NOX2. \n\n\n\nOur group investigates the role of NOX2-derived ROS in cancer-associated immunosuppression and metastasis\, and the potential of targeting this pathway therapeutically. We have shown that genetic or pharmacological inhibition of NOX2 promotes NK cell-mediated clearance of metastatic tumor cells and enhances the efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade (Aydin et al.\, Cancer Immunol Res\, 2017; Grauers Wiktorin et al.\, Cancer Immunol Immunother\, 2019). We also found that surgical stress aggravates NOX2-dependent immunosuppression and metastatic progression\, effects that can be counteracted by NOX2 inhibition (Grauers Wiktorin et al.\, Cancer Res Commun\, 2024). \n\n\n\nMore recently\, we found that myeloid cell-derived NOX2-generated ROS can act directly on tumor cells. These ROS induce epigenetic changes that activate epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) programs and promote metastasis (Kaya et al.\, PNAS\, 2026). Thus\, NOX2-derived ROS may promote metastatic progression both by suppressing anti-tumor immunity and by enhancing tumor cell plasticity. \n\n\n\nHistamine dihydrochloride (HDC)\, which inhibits NOX2-dependent ROS formation\, is approved in the EU for relapse prevention in acute myeloid leukemia. In an ongoing clinical trial at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital\, we are investigating HDC in combination with IL-2 in patients undergoing surgery for pancreatic cancer\, with the aim of reducing perioperative immunosuppression and metastatic risk. \n\n\n\n\nProf. Ari Molofsky\nUniversity of California\, San Francisco \n\n\n\nTitle: Fibroblast – Immune niches in health and disease. \n\n\n\nBiosketch: Ari Molofsky received a BS with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin and an MD/PhD with research distinction from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Molofsky completed residency and fellowship in Clinical Pathology/Hematopathology and now leads a tissue immunology-focused research group in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at UCSF. Dr. Molofsky’s research goals are to understand the regulation and function of tissue-resident immune cells to define novel pathways that can be targeted across diverse human diseases. These tissue-resident immune cells are early organizers of tissue remodeling and first responders during tissue damage and infection\, positioning them as key mediators of tissue health and disease. The Molofsky lab has defined a stromal-immune niche surrounding larger vessels and other border structures in multiple tissues\, including the lungs and brain. They are using 3D quantitative microscopy\, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics\, and cytokine reporters/manipulators to dissect these critical immune-microenvironment interactions\, with a particular focus on bidirectional interactions with fibroblasts. Dr. Molofsky has published papers spanning microbial pathogenesis\, tissue-resident immunity\, and local immune niches. Dr. Molofsky is actively involved in trainee education and teaching and leads the UCSF medical school immunology course. Dr. Molofsky routinely serves as an ad hoc reviewer for multiple journals and is a standing member of the NIH Innate Immunity study section. \n\n\n\nAbstract: \n\n\n\n\nProf. Bernd Bodenmiller\nUniversity of Zurich and ETH Zurich\, Switzerland \n\n\n\nTitle:  \n\n\n\nBiosketch: Bernd Bodenmiller is a quantitative biologist who develops novel experimental and computational approaches for the quantitative analysis of tumor ecosystems to improve our understanding of the mechanisms of tumor development for the benefit of patients. He is the founding director of the Department of Quantitative Biomedicine (DQBM) at the University of Zurich\, which fosters research and education at the interface of biomedical research\, biotechnology\, and computational biology to guide development of next-generation precision medicine. Prof. Bodenmiller obtained his PhD in the group of Ruedi Aebersold at ETH Zürich. For his postdoctoral training\, he joined the laboratory of Garry P. Nolan at Stanford University. In 2012\, he became a group leader and in 2013 an SNF/ERC assistant professor at the University of Zürich. In 2019\, he was tenured and became the founding director of the DQBM. In October 2020 Prof. Bodenmiller has been appointed as Dual Professor for Quantitative Biomedicine at the UZH and at ETH Zurich. His group pioneered the development of imaging mass cytometry\, an approach that enables simultaneously imaging of over 40 proteins and transcripts in tumor tissues (Nat. Methods\, 2014; Cell Systems\, 2017; Nature 2020) and the histoCAT software toolbox (Nat. Methods\, 2017). His groups applies these methods to unravel how cells in the tumor ecosystem drive cancer development to identify mechanisms that might be exploited for therapeutic targeting (Nat. Biotechnology\, 2017\, Cell\, 2017; Cell\, 2019). \n\n\n\n\nProf. Gabriele Bergers\nVIB-KU Leuven Center for Cancer Biology\, Belgium \n\n\n\nTitle: A vascular perspective on immunity in cancer and inflammation \n\n\n\nBiosketch: Dr. Gabriele Bergers is a Professor of Oncology at the University of Leuven and a Principal Investigator at the Vlaams Instituut Voor Biotechnologie (VIB)-Center for Cancer Biology in Leuven since 2016. Prior\, she followed the faculty rank at the University of California\, San Francisco\, and was a Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery and a PI in the Brain Tumor Research Center (BTRC) at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of California\, San Francisco until 2016. \n\n\n\nThe overall research interest of her group relates to the tumor vasculature\, which entails an integral and critical component of the tumor microenvironment and closely interacts with distinct cell constituents of the heterogeneous tumor community. Such crosstalk is pivotal not only for the genesis and progression of a tumor but also for the tumor’s ability to resist therapeutic elimination. \n\n\n\nOver the last years\, her group has made seminal discoveries in the heterogenous crosstalk of the vascular immune axis and identified several intimate regulatory mechanisms between angiogenesis and immunosuppression that provide novel target possibilities to enhance the effects of cancer therapy by modulating the tumor vascular system and its communication with immune cells; among those\, to induce high endothelial venules and subsequent tertiary lymphoid structures\, with the overarching goal to sensitize and enhance an immune response in cancer patients to thwart tumors and metastases and invigorate tissue homeostasis. \n\n\n\nFor her research\, Dr. Bergers has received several awards\, including the Sidney Kimmel\, the Sandler Opportunity\, UCSF Breakthrough Biomedical Research\, and the Judah Folkman Award. She has acted as an external advisory board member for a number of universities and pharmaceutical companies; most recently for Mestag Therapeutics. Dr. Bergers was the co-director of the U54 Tumor microenvironment Brain Tumor Center at UCSF until 2016. She was  a Scientific co-founder of Oncurious. \n\n\n\nAbstract: The vasculature is a critical gatekeeper of tissue immunity\, determining which cells can enter or exit a tissue. During infection\, specialized endothelial cells known as high endothelial venules (HEVs)become activated to promote lymphocyte entry into lymph nodes\, enabling efficient immune priming against pathogens. In cancer\, however\, the vascular system is frequently reprogrammed to suppress immunity. Tumor endothelial cells can form barriers that limit lymphocyte infiltration\, contributing to immune-cold or immune-desert tumors. At the same time\, tumor cells actively remodel HEVs in tumor-draining lymph nodes\, altering their phenotype to facilitate tumor cell intravasation and systemic dissemination. \n\n\n\nRecent mechanistic insights into HEV regulation reveal that the vascular system can also be therapeutically reprogrammed. Induction of intratumoral HEVs can promote lymphocyte recruitment and the formation of tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS)\, which are associated with stronger anti-tumor immunity and improved clinical outcomes. In contrast\, chronic inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis also display HEV expansion accompanied by persistent T-cell aggregates\, where excessive lymphocyte influx may exacerbate pathology. \n\n\n\nHere\, I will discuss HEVs as central vascular regulators of local and systemic immune responses across cancer and chronic inflammation. I will highlight emerging strategies to modulate the vascular axis to either enhance anti-tumor immunity or dampen pathological inflammation\, positioning HEVs as promising therapeutic targets for restoring tissue immune homeostasis. \n\n\n\n\nProf. Göran Jönsson\nLund University \n\n\n\nTitle: Exploring the role of the anti-tumor immune response in tumor initiation and therapy response in melanoma \n\n\n\nBiosketch: Göran Jönsson is a professor in molecular oncology at Lund University. His research has for many years been based on strong collaboration between basic- and clinician scientists in truly translational projects. Considering this and his background in state-of-the art genomic technologies and applying that on human melanoma tissue puts him in a perfect position to conduct research that will generate groundbreaking findings. This is further substantiated by the group’s publication in Nature (2020). Göran is a faculty member of ESMO (European Society of Medical Oncology) and have an extensive international network. He is frequently invited to large international meetings and acts as a reviewer to several funding agencies and high-impact journals such as Nature. Göran has also been the recipient of Young and Senior Investigator Awards from the Swedish Cancer Society and more recently was awarded with the Göran Gustafsson prize in medicine 2022 from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Cancer Researcher of the year (2023) from the Swedish Cancer Society. \n\n\n\nAbstract: \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nProf. José Ignacio Martín-Subero\nIDIBAPS\, Spain \n\n\n\nTitle: \n\n\n\nBiosketch: In 2001\, I obtained my PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Navarra on genetics of lymphoid neoplasms under the supervision of Prof. Maria J Calasanz and co-supervision of Prof. Reiner Siebert from the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel. After that\, I continued my studies on lymphoma genetics as postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Siebert. In 2005\, I became interested in the field of epigenomics and in 2009 I came back to Spain. After a short stay at the IDIBELL\, I went to the UB/IDIBAPS to start my career as independent researcher embedded in the group of Prof. Elias Campo. In 2016\, I was appointed Junior Leader of the Biomedical Epigenomics group at the IDIBAPS and from November 2018 I am ICREA Research Professor at the IDIBAPS. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to join the Campus Solna Seminar Series – an initiative to promote the fantastic science ongoing at Campus Solna and hopefully forge more internal communication and collaboration between within Campus Solna. How do you ensure that nothing falls through the cracks\, that your data remains secure and organised\, and that your project supports FAIR data principles from start to finish? A strong Data Management Plan (DMP) helps researchers think through these questions before problems arise. \n\n\n\nThis hands-on workshop emphasises data management planning across all phases of a research project\, from data collection and documentation to storage\, sharing\, preservation\, and reuse. Participants will gain direct access to the Data Stewardship Wizard (DSW) tool and begin drafting a customised DMP tailored to life science research projects. \n\n\n\nNew for this year\, the workshop will also briefly address the growing role of AI tools in DMP writing. Many researchers can now ask an AI system to generate a DMP in seconds\, but a well-written text is not the same as a well-considered plan. We will discuss how AI can support drafting\, reflection\, and quality control\, while also highlighting the risks of generic\, incomplete\, or misleading answers. The focus will remain on helping researchers understand the decisions behind their DMPs and use available tools responsibly. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n12.00-13.00: Lunch \n\n\n\n13.00-14.30: Handling personal data in Life Science – Navigating GDPR\, Swedish legislation\, and responsible AI use in research\nAre you confident in how your research project documents\, processes\, and protects personal data? Life science research often involves complex data flows\, multiple actors\, and sensitive information\, making it essential to understand both the legal requirements and the practical responsibilities involved. \n\n\n\nThis seminar guides participants through the legal landscape\, from the GDPR to relevant Swedish national legislation. Using a practical research scenario\, we will clarify essential roles and concepts\, including: \n\n\n\n\nResearch principal (forskningshuvudman): Understanding the role and responsibilities of the organisation hosting the research.\n\n\n\nData controllers vs. processors: Identifying who is responsible for each stage of data processing\, including storage\, analysis\, sharing\, and long-term management.\n\n\n\nSensitive data: Understanding how biomedical research data should be handled\, protected\, and shared securely\, including practical considerations for services such as FEGA Sweden.\n\n\n\n\nNew for this year\, the seminar will also briefly address how GDPR affects the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT in research. Generative AI can support tasks such as drafting\, summarising\, coding\, documentation\, and project planning\, but it can also introduce risks when personal data\, sensitive data\, unpublished research material\, or confidential project information are entered into external tools. \n\n\n\nWe will discuss why AI use is not only a technical question\, but also a legal and organisational one: Who is responsible for the processing? What data can be shared with an AI tool? What should never be entered? How do researchers balance the benefits of AI with confidentiality\, accountability\, and compliance? \n\n\n\nThe aim is to help researchers make informed decisions when handling personal data in life science research\, including in an increasingly AI-supported research environment. \n\n\n\n\n14.30-15.30: Marketplace: an interactive exhibition – including fika\nVisit the Interactive Marketplace to explore local and national research data management services in an engaging and informal setting. Please contact gothenburg@scilifelab.se. \n\n\n\n\n15.30-17.00: Open source software for research – Sharing code the right way\nResearch depends on software\, but without open and FAIR practices\, software can be difficult to understand\, reproduce\, and reuse. Open-source software means code that is not only available\, but also licensed for free use\, modification\, and sharing. This workshop provides an overview of open science and FAIR software practices\, and introduces a practical checklist for open and FAIR research software. Participants will apply these principles in a hands-on tutorial to improve the openness\, transparency\, and reusability of their research code. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMore information on Research Data Management and Open Science\n\n\n\nResearch Data Management (RDM) concerns the organization\, storage\, preservation\, and sharing of data that is collected and analyzed during a research project. Proper planning and management of research data will make project management easier and more efficient while projects are being performed. It also facilitates sharing and allows others to validate as well as reuse the data. \n\n\n\nOpen Science is a set of principles and practices that aim to make scientific research from all fields accessible to everyone for the benefits of scientists and society as a whole.
