DESCRIPTION:SciLifeLab Data Centre welcome you to join us for the webinar “The NIH NIAID Blueprint: A FAIR Implementation Approach for the Biomedical Sciences” presented by Christine Kirkpatrick. Head – GO FAIR US\, Secretary General – CODATA\, Principal Investigator – NIAID Data Landscaping and FAIRification\, San Diego Supercomputer Center\, UC San Diego \n\n\n\nWhen: Wednesday Dec 3\, 16:30-17:30 CET (Zoom) \n\n\n\nregister here\n\n\n\nAs organisations adopt the FAIR Principles\, many face challenges FAIRifying not just datasets but entire ecosystems.  The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)\, an Institute within the US National Institutes of Health (NIH)\, manages a diverse data landscape across infectious\, allergic\, and immunologic domains. \n\n\n\n\n\nIts FAIRification project aims to improve discovery and reuse across repositories with varied architectures\, metadata maturity\, and timelines. This work culminated in the recently released\, “A Blueprint for Including Digital Objects in the NIAID Data Ecosystem.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis presentation describes the GO FAIR US–led assessment of NIAID repositories\, highlighting: \n\n\n\n\nCustomized FAIR assessment instruments\n\n\n\nEvaluation of record-based (not just file-based) repositories\n\n\n\nCommon assessment and progress tracking\n\n\n\nImpact-driven adoption of metadata standards and PIDs\n\n\n\nImproving citation practices\n\n\n\nAdapting to social and project constraints\n\n\n\n\nThe approach builds on prior FAIR frameworks (FAIRsFAIR\, RDA DMM\, EarthCube\, GO FAIR Foundation) and uses stakeholder-informed questionnaires and interviews to capture repository practices.
