SUMMARY:Info-seminar: Call for Letter of Interest in Multimodal Precision Medicine
DESCRIPTION:The Precision Medicine Capability now invites clinical researchers (PI) to submit Letters-of-Interest\, LoI\, for co-developing collaborative projects to test feasibility of generating interoperable multimodal data on clinically relevant samples at SciLifeLab. \n\n\n\nRead more\n\n\n\nregistration\n\n\n\nThis call will fund 2-3 pilot projects to perform multimodal analyses at any of SciLifeLab’s  technology platforms aiming to increase feasibility of bedside-to-bench-to-bedside coordination. \n\n\n\nThe pilots will mainly focus on sample flow\, both bedside-to-bench and cross-platform including data integration. All needed permits need to be in place and sampling processes should aim to align with routine sampling and an efficient use of patient material to avoid unnecessary sampling\, The pilots will focus on feasibility in generating multimodal data on small clinical cohorts (10s of patients) and the exact sample processing flow will need to be customized together with the PI and the technology platforms according to sample sets available and the requested data types to be generated. SUMMARY:Biophysical investigations of molecular recognition in high-throughput
DESCRIPTION:Spotlight Seminar series presents Emil Marklund\, SciLifeLab Fellow at Stockholm University \n\n\n\nEmil Marklund is an Assistant Professor and SciLifeLab fellow at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Stockholm University. During his PhD he studied protein – DNA target search\, working with Johan Elf and Sebastian Deindl at Uppsala University. Next\, he did a Postdoc in the Greenleaf lab at Stanford University\, studying protein – DNA binding in high-throughput. He recently started his independent lab at SciLifeLab and Stockholm University\, where his team combines state of the art high-throughput measurements of molecular binding with simulations and quantitative modeling\, to investigate how biological macromolecules can manage to interact with each other with high specificity\, and how sequence information determines macromolecular structure and function. \n\n\n\nHost: Christos Samakovlis\, christos.samakovlis@scilifelab.se

SUMMARY:Extracellular vesicles in cancer therapy-role of checkpoint molecules
DESCRIPTION:Susanne Gabrielsson \n\n\n\nProfessorKarolinska Institutet  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBio\n\n\n\nProf. Gabrielsson has after her PhD at Stockholm University and a postdoc at the Curie Institute in Paris\, established a group dedicated to extracellular vesicle (EV)/exosome research at the Karolinska Institutet. She has been a pioneer in the field of immune effects of exosomes. Dr. Gabrielsson was the first to describe the presence of exosomes in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid\, as well as in breast milk. Her work has revealed that EVs are major players in lung diseases such as asthma and sarcoidosis\, where they contribute to inflammation. Her studies in animal models give new insights into how EV based therapies can be optimized for immunotherapeutic applications in cancer. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nExtracellular vesicles in cancer therapy-role of checkpoint molecules\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe talk will focus on their work to use EVs for cancer therapy. You can expect to learn and discuss different topics reaching from selecting a target for therapy\, the research process to develop a candidate drug to the regulatory framework for theranostics. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTheranostics is a term used to describe when radioactive drugs are used as diagnostic and therapeutic pairs. Receptors that are overexpressed in the diseased tissue\, e.g. tumors\, are used to guide the drug to the target. The radiation can then either be used to for imaging or for therapy depending on the radionuclide used. Developing a theranostic agent could be a feasible way to reach the clinic and SciLifeLab is well suited to catalyze this process. Join us as we delve into practical strategies and techniques to strengthen your mental resilience\, lower stress and process emotions. DESCRIPTION:This seminar will focus on collecting and using personal data in research. We will guide you through the different phases of a typical research project and discuss some commonly asked questions. We will\, for example\, talk about practical aspects of the ethical review\, GDPR\, and how to share sensitive data. This is the third event in the SciLifeLab Data Management seminar series Spring 2024. \n\n\n\nWhen: Wednesday April 17\, 10-11 CEST (Zoom) \n\n\n\nSpeakers: Markus Englund and Erik Hedman\, Data Stewards\, NBIS. \n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nSciLifeLab Data Management seminar series is an event series by the SciLifeLab Data Centre and NBIS joint Data Management team aimed at both the life science research community and infrastructure\, and others with an interest in research data management in life sciences. The events will showcase how to put the FAIR principles\, and good data management into practice.
