Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA
Rudolf Jaenisch is a Professor of Biology at MIT. His research is focused on understanding the epigenetic regulation of gene expression in mammalian development and disease, including Parkinson’s, autism spectrum disorders, and Rett and Fragile X syndromes. He uses patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells to develop sophisticated models of conditions, such as Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes.

Title of talk: “Epigenetic regulation in development and disease”

I will talk about the development of epigenetic gene editing technology and the application of this approach to affect the severe autism diseases Fragile X and Rett syndrome.
