SUMMARY:Unveiling the Future: Clinical MS and Precision Medicine Hybrid Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to a seminar on the Clinical MS Facility\, a national initiative for multi-omics precision medicine. \n\n\n\nPrecision medicine represents a paradigm shift in medical research\, necessitating the inclusion of multiomics to drive development. Therefore\, the Clinical MS Facility was initiated—an effort funded by the Swedish Research Council and planned to be integrated with SciLifeLab. \n\n\n\nSix state-of-the-art instruments for mass spectrometry (MS)\, equipped with fast liquid chromatography systems and liquid handlers for automated sample preparation\, have now been installed at the three nodes in Lund\, Stockholm\, and Gothenburg. \n\n\n\nRead more\n\n\n\nPresenters are Carina Sihlbom Wallem and Annika Thorsell from the Proteomics Core Facility\, University of Gothenburg\, one of the nodes of the Clinical MS Facility. \n\n\n\n\nThere will be a mingling session with coffee and cake served in the Academicum foyer\, outside the lecture hall\, between 14:30-15:00.

SUMMARY:Metabolomics for the masses
DESCRIPTION:Metabolites reflect the interaction between the gene cascade and surrounding exposures and are therefore essential components in all living organisms. Metabolites can be used to identify biomarkers of both health conditions and environmental exposures. The SciLifeLab Metabolomics platform offers a range of services\, which will be presented during this talk\, for researchers interested in metabolomics. \n\n\n\nThe presenter\, Otto Savolainen\, is head of the Swedish Metabolomics Centre (SMC)\, which offers small molecule\, lipid and metabolomics analysis in biological tissues and fluids using mass spectrometry methods\, in Gothenburg.  The SciLifeLab site in Gothenburg includes units at both the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology and has a strong connection to Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The SMC unit in Gothenburg is part of the Chalmers Mass Spectrometry Infrastructure (CMSI). \n\n\n\nA light lunch will be offered for those attending onsite. \n\n\n\nregistration\n\n\n\nDeadline for registration is 19/9.

SUMMARY:Open Hearing: Gothenburg Phenomics – Proof of Concept Project Invitation
DESCRIPTION:The aim is to establish proof-of-concept for life science research with expressed (pre-)clinical relevance. This will be achieved by forming a closed loop from biomedical research question (initiated by pre-clinical researchers) to returning actionable biological results\, in terms of mechanisms and potential biomarkers and targets. \n\n\n\nIn this open hearing we would like to identify preclinical and clinical research questions where samples and data are available for proof of concept for a combined metabolomics/proteomics/data analysis study. We will coordinate data deliveries from platforms to data storage via inferential analysis and extraction of biomarkers and mechanisms of interest go from compute and back to the biomedical researcher (question owner). \n\n\n\nRegistration and more information

The Bioinformatics and Data Centre provides high-throughput techniques for biomedical\, clinical and pre-clinical research; a wide range of support in bioinformatics and statistics is available – from short term consulting to long term project support and training; general consulting and support for HPC hardware and software infrastructure development and storage for “big data”. \n\n\n\nSciLifeLab is a national infrastructure within life science with a wide range of advanced technology and expertise. The newly started SciLifeLab site in Gothenburg includes units at both the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology and has a strong connection to Sahlgrenska University Hospital. \n\n\n\nA light lunch will be offered during the talks for those joining on site.
