The group focuses on mapping and modulating protein function in human gut microbiome species. We want to understand how drugs act, how species metabolize complex carbohydrates, and to map how the species of the microbiome interact with each other physically or via metabolites. Our goal is to be able to manipulate the gut microbial community using drugs or diet to promote a healthy state. We use systems biology approaches based on proteomics.
