Research School Activities
The two main aims of all activities within the DDLS Research School are
to promote:
- Knowledge, skills, and judgement within DDLS topics including related
“soft skills”. - Networking – which means that the Research School focuses on on-site
activities with social events.
Courses:
The DDLS Research School curriculum stretches over three years and
encompasses 18 credits where of 9 credits are considered mandatory, ie.
all enrolled, fully active DDLS PhD students should take these courses.

social event.
Annual meetings:
Spring: All DDLS PhD students and their PIs are invited to the Research School
Annual Meetings, taking place in spring every year (2025: 18-21 March at
Djurönäset, Värmdö; 2026: 17-20 March, Skogshem & Wijk,Lidingö). The
Annual Meetings contain workshops, courses, research presentations and
social activities. PIs are invited to the first and second days, while
PhD students (and later DDLS postdocs) are invited to the entire meeting.
Fall: A pre-kickoff for new PhD students will take place in conjunction with the DDLS Annual Conference (12-13 November 2025 in Uppsala).
Other activities:
Additional activities may include mentorship program, site visits, and
research exchanges.
Active participation criteria for a PhD student in DDLS Research School:
- Actively participate in the DDLS RS courses and activities
- Participate in or communicate with PhD student council in Research School-related matters
- Submit Annual Status Report to the DDLS Research School management
