SciLifeLab Group Leader Retreat provides space for exchange, collaboration, and ideas

On September 18-19, SciLifeLab hosted its Group Leader Retreat, gathering more than 200 infrastructure and research leaders from across Sweden for two days of exchange, reflection, and future outlooks.

“It was a rewarding experience to be part of the scientific committee for the SciLifeLab Group Leader retreat, and see the power of bringing SciLifeLab people together in a setting that is outside of our research field and everyday university affiliation, says Bianca Stenmark, Head of Unit, Clinical Genomics Örebro, Örebro University.

The program included keynote talks, panel discussions, and interactive sessions focused on the future of life sciences and technology development, where group leaders had the opportunity to network across research areas and discuss how SciLifeLab can best support life science research in e.g. AI & modeling, spatial omics, biodiversity, and imaging.

“Our group leaders are at the heart of SciLifeLab. Their commitment to biology-, technology- and data-driven research is what enables us to drive scientific excellence and create impact for society. To meet in a setting like this is a valuable opportunity to reflect on our shared goals and spark new collaborations,” said Disa Larsson Hammarlöf, Research Coordinator at SciLifeLab.

The SciLifeLab Group Leaders form a dynamic and diverse community of scientists, leading research groups, technology platforms and units across the country. Through gatherings like the Group Leader retreat, SciLifeLab continues to cultivate an open, collaborative, and innovative environment, ensuring that Swedish life science remains a global leader in tackling the most pressing issues of our time.
