Aubrey Weigel strengthens SciLifeLab’s capacity in large-scale cellular data for Alpha Cell
Today, SciLifeLab welcomes Aubrey Weigel to join SciLifeLab’s flagship research program Alpha Cell as new Data Lead and will be affiliated with KTH, Department of Protein Sciences, Division of Systems Biology.
Aubrey brings extensive expertise in advanced microscopy, quantitative bioimaging and computational analysis of cellular structures. Most recently, she led the team working on the CellMap project, a Janelia Research Campus open-science initiative focused on generating large-scale 3D cellular volume electron microscopy datasets. Her responsibilities included using machine learning to analyse this data and making the resulting data resource available through an open-access platform.
At SciLifeLab, Aubrey will make a key contribution by coordinating the production, integration and analysis of large-scale subcellular molecular data resources relying on advanced imaging and AI-powered data mining. This contribution will be made in close collaboration with SciLifeLab’s Cellular and Molecular Imaging infrastructure and is key to reaching the ambition of Alpha Cell: to create predictive AI models of human cells.
