DDLS Research School opens new affiliate program for PhD students
The DDLS Research School is expanding its reach through a new PhD Student Affiliate Program. For the first time, PhD students who are not funded through the DDLS program will have the opportunity to join the Research School and take part in its courses, activities, and national community in data-driven life science.
The new affiliate program is open to early-stage PhD students at Swedish universities, institutes, or in industry whose research projects are within data-driven life science and whose salaries are not funded by a DDLS grant.
“The DDLS Research School Affiliate Program gives PhD students not funded by DDLS access to a ‘smörgåsbord’ of courses and networking activities within the DDLS community,” says Peetra Magnusson, DDLS Research School co-director.
Affiliated PhD students will participate in the DDLS Research School on the same terms as DDLS-funded PhD students, with access to courses, annual meetings, networking activities, and the growing national community of researchers working with data-driven approaches in life science.
Until now, participation in the Research School has been limited to PhD students funded through the DDLS program. The new affiliate program will extend the reach of the Research School, enabling more PhD students with relevant research projects to benefit from its activities and community. It will also provide opportunities for research environments with previous or ongoing connections to DDLS, including DDLS Fellows and other researchers whose dedicated DDLS funding has ended, to remain connected to the Research School through eligible PhD students.
“This is a crucial step in broadening the scope and relevance of the Research School and DDLS as a whole. We look forward to welcoming the affiliated PhD students to the Research School!” says Olof Emanuelsson, DDLS Research School co-director.
Up to 15 affiliated PhD students will be admitted through the first call and will join the DDLS Research School in spring 2027.
