The Affinity Proteomics unit at SciLifeLab, hosted at Uppsala University, is seeking a highly motivated biofinformatician to work with our affinity based proteomic methods. The candidate will work integrated in the unit with both internal and user facing projects. The main platforms we are using are from Olink Proteomics, Illumina (Illumina protein prep) and MesoScale Diagnostics. The team constists of research engineers and researchers and we are working closely with the sequencing platform NGI at Uppsala University for some of these methods.
Duties
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing data tools and workflows for bioinformatics analyses of affinity based proteomic data.
- Development of pipelines and applications for data quality control of affinity based proteomic data.
- Analyzing data from internal validations of new laboratory methods, bioinformatics tools and interlaboratory comparisons as well as contributing to the writing of reports based on the results.
- Participating in project planning meetings with users, providing expertise on bioinformatics-related questions for proteomics.
- Collaborating with other SciLifeLab units and similar organizations to integrate diverse types of clinical and -omics data across platforms
Requirements
- University degree in bioinformatics, data science or a related field.
- Several years of documented professional experience in the relevant field
- Strong knowledge in bioinformatics related to affinity based proteomics.
- Proficiency in R, Python or similar programming languages.
- Experience working in Linux environments
- Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently during data analysis.
- Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English
We are looking for someone who is outgoing, proactive, responsible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working both independently and in a team. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities such as a positive attitude toward service-oriented work and strong collaboration skills.
Additional qualifications
In addition to the qualifications listed above, we value previous experience in one or more of the following areas:
- PhD including bioinformatics with a focus on proteomics or a related field.
- Experience working in a research-oriented service facility.
- Good understanding of how pre-analytical and laboratory methods can affect data quality.
- Quality control and analysis of large-scale proteomics data.
- Experience working in an accredited environment (or other regulated settings).
- Good understanding of information security and GDPR.
