Ref PAR 2022/554

The University of Gothenburg tackles society’s challenges with diverse knowledge. 56 000 students and 6 600 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract scientists and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.

OligoNova Hub is a national research infrastructure that provides academic researchers in Sweden with support and capabilities to transform ideas and discoveries into new oligonucleotide therapies. The Hub is located within the vibrant biotech cluster at the AstraZeneca BioVentureHub in Mölndal. OligoNova Hub is organized within the Core Facilities at the University of Gothenburg (www.cf.gu.se), and is also part of the Science for Life Laboratory Drug Discovery and Development platform (https://www.scilifelab.se/units/ddd-platform/ ), a national resource comprising 50+ scientists with complementary expertise in drug discovery.

The position will be connected to the Sahlgrenska Academy Bioinformatics Core Facility, which currently employs 9 experts and provides a wide range of statistical and bioinformatics analysis to academic and non-academic users. For more information, see www.bioinformatics.cf.gu.se.

You will be a key partner in the drug development team, working with our experts in biology and oligonucleotide chemistry. You will also collaborate closely with the Bioinformatics Core Facility in the data analysis of innovative oligonucleotides and their biological effects.

In your role you will be using bioinformatics approaches and machine learning to identify and deliver oligonucleotide sequence designs. You will be responsible for developing and implementing appropriate algorithms, techniques and datasets for the discovery of oligonucleotide candidate drugs. You will complement and coordinate data analysis capabilities in the identification of biological induced effects of the oligonucleotides by analyzing, integrating and interpreting multiple modalities of omics data. You will also contribute to RNAseq analyses for the different oligonucleotide projects to ensure that the results are scientifically robust and well documented.

Qualifications

  • You must have a PhD in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • You must be experienced in DNA/RNA sequence analysis, NGS data analysis and/or machine learning methods.
