We are looking for Principal research engineer in Medical Genetics.
The position
You will work as a molecular biologist within the Clinical Genomics/Core facility with development work and service within genomics. The work is mainly focused on large-scale sequencing and molecular genetic analyzes of mainly research samples. The work includes everything from sample preparation, establishment of sequencing libraries, sequencing and management of results with certain bioinformatics insight.
You will work with Clinical Genomics (CG) where, together with the Platform Scientific Director, you are responsible for and coordinate the daily CG activities. This means, among other things, coordination of tasks in the group, coordination and prioritization of project for CG operational plan, pricing and invoicing, reporting to SciLifeLab and CG deliverables (KPI), implementation and training in new methods and protocols, as well as production of high-quality data.
The work also includes collaboration with various research groups, other CG units and the university hospital’s Precision Medicine Laboratory for the development of new technologies, instrument acquisition and use. An important part of the work is to spread knowledge and information to users and to organize courses and workshops, as well as update the CG unit’s website.
The person we need
We are looking for someone who has a a Ph.D. and a background relevant to the task. You must have documented experience with the following techniques and methods:
- Different sequencing techniques, (NGS, Sanger, long read sequencing, pyrosequencing)
- Methylation analyzes with array, technology, RBBS, Nanopore, Me-PCR
- Microarray, gene expression as well as SNP and CNV analyzes
- RNA and gene expression analyses, RNA sequencing single cell isolation
- Digital PCR, q-PCR, ultrasensitive detection
- Molecular biology lab work, cloning
It is advantageous if you have experience in:
- Protein analyses, Western blot, cell biology work, cell culture work
- Bioinformatics
The position requires very good knowledge of English and Swedish, both spoken and written. As a person, you are social, pedagogical and service-oriented as the work involves a lot of contacts with other researchers. A high level of social competence is required to be able to manage collaborations within the group and understand other group members’ competencies and needs, as well as being able to consult with researchers about, for example, choice of methodology. You are quality conscious, structured and conscientious. Emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
The workplace
You will be employed at The Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) and perform duties within the Faculty of Medicine’s Core Facility. The work takes place in close collaboration with bioinformaticians and technical staff within Clinical Genomics.
