Flagship programs
SciLifeLab flagship programs are long-term, strategic research initiatives that address fundamental challenges in life science. They combine advanced technologies, large-scale data generation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Through our flagship programs Alpha Cell and the Human Protein Atlas, SciLifeLab delivers the global scientific community with open-access, high-impact resources.

Alpha Cell
Alpha Cell is a scientific program at SciLifeLab that combines large-scale protein location data, detailed maps of cell structures, and advanced artificial intelligence to build models that deliver dynamic and predictive models of human cell biology.
The program will deepen our understanding of how healthy cells function and how cellular processes are altered in disease.
Human Protein Atlas
Established in 2003, the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) is a scientific program mapping all human proteins across cells, tissues, organs and blood using antibody-based imaging, mass spectrometry, transcriptomics and systems biology.
HPA is open access with over 500,000 monthly visits from users worldwide and contains over 10 million bioimages. It is selected as a core data resource by ELIXIR and the Global Biodata Coalition.
