Oommen Varghese
My research group focuses on the development of next-generation nucleic acid therapeutics for gene silencing, as well as advanced biomaterials for the delivery of small molecules, nucleic acid drugs, and therapeutic proteins. We combine these efforts with 3D bioprinting to create functional tissue models and scaffolds. Our work emphasizes translational research, aiming to develop effective anticancer therapies and biomaterials for bone and cartilage regeneration. As one of the leading interdisciplinary research teams at Uppsala University, we strive to bring innovative technologies from bench to bedside. In particular, our key interests lie in creating novel treatments for brain cancer and engineering 3D-printed bone-mimetic scaffolds, which have shown promising results in preclinical studies.
