Infrastructure update: The new SciLifeLab proteomics platform (CPI)
A new platform, the Clinical Proteomics and Immunology platform (CPI), with focus on clinical and translational research, was recently created to strengthen the proteomics resources offered by SciLifeLab to Swedish and international researchers.
State-of-the-art mass spectrometry (MS), affinity proteomics and single-cell analyzing tools, will be available to profile humoral immune-response and autoantibodies, levels of circulating and cellular proteins, and to determine protein variants, modifications and interactions in a wide variety of clinical samples.
Previously, SciLifeLab infrastructures has strongly contributed to accelerate the translation of genomics to clinical research and health care. The mission of this newly formed platform will be to raise and accelerate the role and impact of proteomics technologies into precision medicine and translational research.
CPI will combine resources from four universities and will consist of four units from the former SciLifeLab Proteomics and Metabolomics platform: Autoimmunity and Serology Profiling (KTH); Affinity Proteomics Stockholm node (KTH) and Uppsala node (UU); Cellular Immunomonitoring Stockholm node (KI) and Linköping node (LiU); Global Proteomics and Proteogenomics (KI), and a new entry, Glycoproteomics at University of Gothenburg (GU), to expand the current analytical capacity offered for investigation of clinical relevant post translational modifications (PTMs)
The platform will be managed by the Director, Masood Kamali-Moghaddam (UU), together with the co-Director, Elisabet Carlsohn (GU) and Claudia Fredolini (KTH), as coordinator.
“We believe that the future of precision and personalized medicine will be in the integrative omics-based diagnostics. CPI is a comprehensive and world-leading proteomics platform, and we will strongly focus on the integration of multi-technological data and on the creation of new precision medicine capabilities jointly with other SciLifeLab platforms,” says Masood Kamali-Moghaddam.
“CPI will also collaborate tightly with the National Bioinformatics Infrastructure (NBIS) and with the SciLifeLab and Wallenberg National Program on Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) to create a large proteomics data resource and advanced bioinformatics workflows for data integration and sharing”, the co-Director Elisabet Carlsohn adds.
