Jo Bury and Sarah Teichmann join SciLifeLab International Advisory Board
The SciLifeLab International Advisory Board (IAB) announces two new members joining: Dr Jo Bury, Managing Director at VIB in Belgium, and Dr Sarah Teichmann, Head of Cellular Genetics at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, UK. Together with the other IAB members, they will assess various aspects of SciLifeLab and propose strategies for advancing the center’s operations. The upcoming IAB visit is scheduled to March 13-15, 2019.
“It is an honour to be asked to become an advisor to such an exciting scientific endeavour as SciLifeLab and I’m really looking forward to my visit in March and joining the International Advisory Board”, says Sarah Teichmann. “Education and collaborative working are vital to creating cutting edge science, such as the international Human Cell Atlas initiative that many SciLifeLab researchers are involved in, and it is inspiring to see the innovation and collaboration between academic, industry and healthcare researchers facilitated by SciLifeLab.”
“I am excited to join the IAB of SciLifeLab, being an outstanding center of excellence in Life science in Europe”, says Jo Bury. “I see many similarities to VIB: it is an interuniversity initiative, with a significant critical mass, high level of ambition in its research focus, and above all a forefront runner in disruptive technology development. The smart thing is to open this resource at marginal cost for the whole life science community in Sweden. I think we can learn a lot form each other. Looking forward to digging in.”
