Researchers at Karolinska Institutet report in Cell that they have found an important mechanism that explains the limited healing ability of the central nervous system, resulting in permanent functional deficits efter injury. Using the new knowledge, Christian Göritz at Karolinska Institutet and colleagues could improve functional recovery following spinal cord injury in mice. The study was enabled by National Genomics Infrastructure, NGI, at SciLifeLab.
