SciLifeLab launches major recruitment call for staff scientists in computational biology, data science and AI
Computational methods and artificial intelligence on large-scale molecular data are transforming the study of biological systems and processes, ranging from molecular structures and cellular processes to human health and global ecosystems.
To take advantage of this exciting opportunity for life science, SciLifeLab is scaling up its computational biology and data science capabilities and launching a major recruitment call for new staff scientists. All positions are based at SciLifeLab’s national research infrastructure units, which are located at the leading university campuses across Sweden. The new positions encompass cutting-edge areas of data-intensive life science and will work closely together in SciLifeLab’s data science community, to ensure seamless data flow and multi-omics data integration between SciLifeLab’s technology platforms: Genomics, Clinical genomics , Proteomics, Metabolomics & Exposomics, Spatial Biology, Cellular and Molecular Imaging, Integrated Structural Biology, Chemical Biology & Genome Engineering, and Drug Discovery and Development. Through this initiative, SciLifeLab aims to provide the next level of integrated data services for the user community of its research and data infrastructure.
In addition, SciLifeLab will recruit five AI engineers to strengthen the technical AI capacity at SciLifeLab.
“By expanding our computational expertise in a major way, we are ensuring that Sweden’s life science researchers have access to the best computational tools and support for managing, integrating, and extracting knowledge from rich and complex datasets. These new data scientists and AI engineers will be central in connecting our user communities, developing new data services, and accelerating data-driven discoveries,” says Jan Ellenberg, SciLifeLab Director.
The positions are located at the universities that host the SciLifeLab sites across Sweden.
Today, SciLifeLab forms an internationally unique infrastructure and research community, bringing together groundbreaking life science technologies with leading data and AI expertise. By creating these new exciting positions, SciLifeLab takes the next step in creating an integrated hub for the cutting-edge computational methods that are needed for tomorrow’s life science research.
