The genetics of obesity is mapped

An international team of researchers has identified 89 new genetic loci linked to obesity. Several functions in the central nervous system appears to play an important role in the development of obesity, as well as the metabolism of adipose tissue and insulin. One of the researchers who has lead the study is Erik Ingelsson at SciLifeLab and Uppsala University.
