New treatment attacks liver disease and type 2 diabetes
A research team involving Adil Mardinoglu and Mathias Uhlén at KTH Royal Institute of Technology/SciLifeLab are planning a clinical trial of a new treatment for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes. The treatment harnesses liver cells’ own ability to burn accumulated fats.
The team used a metabolic modeling approach, which relied on data from the Human Protein Atlas project, which also involved a number of researchers connected to SciLifeLab. The study was was published in Molecular Systems Biology.
