Lentini lab: Tumour Evolutionary Dynamics
Cancer is not a static disease—it evolves continuously. As tumours grow, they accumulate genetic diversity, with distinct subclones acquiring new mutations that drive progression and resistance to therapy. Understanding this dynamic evolutionary process is critical for developing more effective interventions.
Our research group is dedicated to uncovering how large-scale genetic alterations influence cancer evolution. We leverage cutting-edge single-cell sequencing technologies and advanced computational approaches to dissect the complex genetic landscape of tumours at unprecedented resolution. By mapping how these alterations shape tumour behaviour over time, we aim to reveal novel mechanisms of resistance and progression.
Our ultimate goal is to translate these insights into clinical impact. By identifying new biomarkers and therapeutic targets, we strive to pave the way for more precise diagnostics and targeted treatments—ultimately improving long-term outcomes and survival for cancer patients.
