Katja Petzold

My research uses structural biology and medical biophysics to explore the structure and dynamics of non-coding RNAs, with a special focus on viral RNAs (HBV, HIV, SARS-CoV-2), microRNAs in cancer and ribosomes in bacterial infection. By developing advanced NMR methods for in-cell and dynamics studies of RNA, we aim to understand RNA behaviour in native environments. This knowledge drives RNA-based drug development, leveraging RNA structure and dynamics insights to tackle complex challenges.
