Our research group focuses on eukaryotic and prokaryotic membrane proteins, with particular emphasis on P-type ATPases, ion channels and secondary transporters. The importance of these proteins is underscored by the fact that dysfunction of membrane transport proteins is linked to numerous genetic and acquired diseases.

The overarching aim of the group is to elucidate the molecular principles and determinants governing transport processes across cellular membranes. To achieve this, we employ a diverse and complementary set of approaches, centered on state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscopy, to investigate structure-function-disease relationships in membrane proteins.

The group is based at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and at Lund University, Sweden.
