Wolfgang is an expert in protein production, enzymology and integrated structural biology approaches. As such he provides and develops life science infrastructure for protein production, protein characterization, biophysics and protein structure determination (www.lp3.lu.se & www.pps.gu.se/en). His research beýond the infrastructures features biochemical – structural biology approaches to study enzymes.
Since 2026 he is the theme leader of PandA (Pandemics and Alertness, www.linxs.se/panda) at the Lund Institute for advanced Neutron and X-ray Science (LINXS). PandA is a LINXS theme aiming at to understand and fight viruses, and to increase preparedness ahead of new virus pandemics by increasing the use of X-ray and neutron sources by virologists.
