Clinical Genomics Göteborg
Clinical Genomics Göteborg was established in January 2016 as a collaborative effort between the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and Area 4, Laboratory Medicine at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Its aim is to facilitate translational research and help bridge the gap from research to clinical routine. Our sequencing and bioinformatics units are closely associated, providing an end-to-end solution from sample to analysis. Translational research projects are carried out in close collaboration with both researchers and clinicians, locally and nationally.
Applications
We provide expertise, method development and end-to-end service to translational research and precision diagnostics for the development of tomorrow’s diagnostics. Our current disease focus areas are:
- Cancers (including solid tumors and hematological malignancies)
- Rare inherited disease
- Microbial diseases and surveillance
Services
Our national services within NGS and other molecular technologies include development of methods for clinical implementation or translational research with strong clinical utility. These include, but are not restricted to:
- Consultation (Project design, Data analysis)
- QC of samples for various analyses (Sequencing data, Genomic DNA/RNA)
- Sequencing:
- DNA sequencing (WGS, Panels, SimSenSeq, microbial genomes, metagenomics)
- RNA sequencing (total RNA, mRNA, single cell)
- Other molecular technologies (Array-based analyses)
- User access service (DNA/RNA concentration measurements, Sequencing)
- Bioinformatics (Long term service support (embedded staff within a research group), Software support , Bioinformatic analysis (data generated at CG or elsewhere))
- Cluster hardware (Support with infrastructure and storage solutions for NGS applications)
- Training and Education (PhD courses, Master courses, Training on-demand)
Equipment
Our node has access to specialized equipment that enable us to factilitate the translation of new high-throuput techniques into clinical use. These include, but are not restricted to:
- Various automatic robotic systems (Tecan Fluent 780, Beckman i5 Automated Workstation)
- Various systems for QC, quantification and fragment analyses (TapeStation, Quantification using fluorescent assay (Qubit, Quantit), Agilent Fragment Analyzer)
- Instrumentation for microarray analysis (iScan, NextSeq550)
- Instrumentation for library preparation including single cell (10x Chromium Genomics, CytAssist)
- Sequencing platforms
- Illumina (MiSeq, NextSeq 550, NextSeq 550 Dx, NovaSeq 6000)
- Ion Torrent (Ion S5 Prime, Ion Torrent PGM, Genexus system)
- Nanopore (MinION, PromethION, P2 Solo)
