[Spotlight seminar] Beyond Biological Sequence Space

August 26, 2025 @ 15:15 16:15 CEST

Dr. Klára Hlouchová, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic

Join us for an inspiring seminar with Dr. Klara Hlouchová, whose pioneering work delves deep into the “dark protein space“—the vast universe of unevolved amino acid sequences rarely touched by nature. Her group is using cutting-edge bioinformatics and experimental strategies to explore how early proteins formed using a primitive alphabet of just ~10 amino acids, and whether such minimal sets could support the folds and functions we see today. This seminar promises not just a glimpse into the origins of the protein world, but also fresh insights into the evolving logic of the genetic code and protein design. It’s a rare opportunity to connect with prebiotic molecular evolution at its most fundamental level.
