Chemical Biology Seminar Series: “Collaborative drug discovery at NCATS

August 21, 2025 @ 14:00 15:00 CEST

Join us for an engaging seminar in the Chemical Biology Seminar Series featuring Dr. Matthew D. Hall, Scientific Director of the Division of Preclinical Innovation at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), NIH.

Short summary: First, I will speak about our translational science laboratories at NCATS, and how we collaborate. I will give some insight into the opportunities and the challenges of working with collaborators. Second, I’ll describe a recent research project as an example of early drug discovery – a new inhibitor for NNMT (N-nicotinamide methyltransferase). Third, I’ll touch on challenges and next steps for drug discovery tools – the need to embrace alternative methods (NAMS) and new modalities (such as gene therapy).

NOTE: We will meet up with individuals who do not have access to SciLifeLab in the reception at 13.50
