SciLifeLab at Sweden’s networking arena
SciLifeLab engaged in the public arena of Almedalen Week 2023 and co-organized several seminars and discussions with institutions such as Uppsala University, GMS, and NBIS. The goal was to showcase how research and research infrastructure can contribute to addressing societal challenges, thereby ensuring that Sweden maintains its position as a leading nation in life sciences.
During the Almedalen Week, SciLifeLab hosted four events. This annual gathering takes place in Visby, on the island of Gotland in the Baltic sea. The event brings together politicians, civil servants, industry representatives, and members of various NGOs to discuss current political issues.
A team from SciLifeLab participated in Almedalen Week 2023 to arrange seminars demonstrating how research and research infrastructure can effectively tackle societal challenges, ultimately securing Sweden’s prominent role in the field of life sciences. Additionally, SciLifeLab researchers and experts attended seminars organized by other institutions.
“During the Almedalen week, I’ve made more contacts in my field than during my 1,5 years as a lead for the Planetary Biology Capability at SciLifeLab” said Olga Vinnere-Pettersson after the event.
Based on feedback from researchers and staff, SciLifeLab is planning to participate in the Almedalen week again in 2024.
