SciLifeLab Launches PULSE: Empowering the Next Generation of Life Science Leaders

SciLifeLab is happy to announce the launch of PULSE (Program for Future Leaders in Life Science), an ambitious postdoctoral program funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND. The program, set to train 48 postdocs over two calls in January 2025 and 2026, offers a unique combination of academic excellence, industrial exposure, and career development opportunities.

“Through PULSE, we are building bridges between academia and industry to foster innovation and nurture future leaders who will shape life sciences of tomorrow” comments Mia Phillipson, SciLifeLab Co-Director and PULSE Program Director.

PULSE provides 3-year fellowships hosted by SciLifeLab Group Leaders at nine Swedish universities, complemented by secondments with 24 international academic and non-academic partners. The program invites talented researchers to propose individually designed projects that align with SciLifeLab’s cutting-edge research fields and is designed to address scientific challenges in the areas of Cell & Molecular Biology, Precision Medicine, Evolution & Biodiversity, Epidemiology, and Drug Discovery.

“The program has two tracks, with 32 fellows in the academic track, and 16 fellows in the entrepreneurial track, and is a gateway to future careers in life science. By combining cutting-edge research with robust career support and international collaboration, the aim is to provide our fellows with the best conditions for their continued career development”, says Disa Hammarlöf, SciLifeLab program manager of PULSE.

The first call for applications is open until March 31, 2025, and the first group of postdocs will start in October 2025. For more information, visit SciLifeLab PULSE.
