Workshop: How to communicate your research beyond the lab
August 28, 2025 @ 13:00 – 14:00 CEST
We’re excited to invite you (SciLifeLab community only) to a practical and interactive workshop in Solna focused on how to effectively communicate your research to a broader audience.
Why this workshop?
As researchers, we often spend so much time in the details of our work that it can be hard to see what’s most interesting or relevant to someone outside our field. This session is designed to help you identify and frame those stories, whether for public outreach, media visibility, or a strong social media post.
Whether you’re a PhD student, postdoc, or research engineer, this session is especially aimed at those who don’t usually take the spotlight but whose work absolutely deserves it.
Workshop themes
- What makes your research interesting?
Learn to identify the “hook” and explain it clearly to a non-scientific audience. Tips on relevant media outlets and news platforms where you can make your voice heard. - Writing for the general public
Practice simplifying complex ideas without dumbing them down. - Social media confidence
Get hands-on tips for writing short, engaging posts (e.g., LinkedIn or Bluesky).
Format
Short presentations, interactive exercises, and peer feedback in a relaxed setting.
You’ll also learn how the SciLifeLab communications team can support your outreach efforts with tools, channels, and networks.
Preparation
To get the most out of the session, we’ll ask participants to bring a short, simplified description (max 200 words) of a finding or idea from their research that they’d like to share with the public.
More details will follow after registration.
