From infrastructure to innovation: SciLifeLab Lund Day highlights collaboration
Researchers, technology platforms, and strategic research initiatives gathered in Lund to exchange ideas, collaborate and learn about what SciLifeLab has to offer.
“The SciLifeLab Lund Day was a great opportunity to connect with researchers across Lund University and to highlight how SciLifeLab’s platforms and other initiatives can support their work,” says Anabella Aguilera, Site Coordinator at SciLifeLab Lund.
The community met at Lux Aula, for a full day with the theme ‘accelerating strategic research through collaboration, infrastructure, and innovation’. For those new to SciLifeLab, there was also a session on how to start using the SciLifeLab services.

“Attendees appreciated the diversity of the program of the day, ranging from cutting-edge SciLifeLab technologies, a spotlight on Lund University’s Strategic Research Area, how research can bridge to industry and have an impact, and highlighting career paths beyond traditional academia,” says Sophie Hellstrand, Site Coordinator at SciLifeLab Lund, “For us in the organizing committee, it was exciting to present concrete projects and collaborations here at SciLifeLab Lund, such as the unique “Science and Technology Themes”.
The participants had the opportunity to learn about and interact with SciLifeLab cutting-edge technologies and national resources within cellular and molecular imaging, integrated structural biology, genomics, metabolomics and exposomics, proteomics, spatial biology, bioinformatics and training.
“A key outcome was the dialogue we fostered with the Strategic Research Areas (SRAs) at Lund University, exploring not only existing collaborations but also identifying new ways SciLifeLab can contribute to advancing their research,” says Anabella Aguilera.

“It was inspiring to see so much engagement throughout the day, with participants actively discussing how to make the most of the technologies, initiatives and expertise available through SciLifeLab,” says Anabella Aguilera

SciLifeLab Lund
SciLifeLab Lund was formally launched in 2022 as a cross-faculty initiative between the Faculties of Medicine, Sciences, and Engineering. SciLifeLab Lund is located at Lund University’s Biomedical Centre (BMC) on floor D14. The site is governed by a Steering group with representatives from the above-mentioned faculties, as well as from Region Skåne. The site is led at the operative level by a Site Director and a Management Group, which includes representatives from the included Research Infrastructure Units.
Currently, SciLifeLab Lund consists of eleven research infrastructure units. Eight of these units are part of SciLifeLab’s technology platforms, while the remaining three represent core local facilities that are nationally relevant and have missions and objectives similar to those of SciLifeLab.
