GA4GH 13th Plenary gathers genomics and health community
The Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) 13th Plenary will take place in Uppsala from 6 to 10 October 2025, co-hosted by SciLifeLab. This annual event brings together experts from around the world to advance responsible, global genomic data sharing.
The meeting has a focus on genomic and clinical data sharing and brings together organisations and initiatives from the genomics and health community for keynotes, talks, and workshops.
“We are excited to welcome the GA4GH community to Sweden. The 13th Plenary meeting in Uppsala will be an important moment for the global genomics community to advance responsible and interoperable data sharing,” says Christopher Erdmann, Head of Open Science, at SciLifeLab.
“By coming together, we will drive innovation, strengthen collaborations, and accelerate the impact of genomic research and medicine worldwide. We invite all stakeholders to join us in shaping the future of genomic data sharing and its role in advancing science and healthcare”, Christopher Erdmann continues.
The GA4GH Plenary meeting provides a platform for in-depth discussions on genomic data access, policy frameworks, and emerging technologies. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in plenary sessions, technical workshops, and collaborative working sessions, all designed to foster innovation and international cooperation.
GA4GH previously announced the selection of Sweden as the 2025 host location, emphasizing the country’s strong commitment to open science and collaborative research. In the announcement, GA4GH stated: “The annual Plenary meeting brings together experts from diverse fields to develop and implement harmonized standards and tools that support responsible genomic data sharing worldwide.”
SciLifeLab and GA4GH will have the support of an international and diverse Plenary Programme Committee (PPC) to help craft a meaningful event. Organizing committee members include Per Sikora, PPC Chair, University of Gothenburg and Sahlgrenska University Hospital; Johan Rung, Uppsala University; Heidi Rehm, GA4GH Chair, Mass General Brigham and Broad Institute; and Peter Goodhand, GA4GH President and CEO, Ontario Institute for Cancer Research; among others.
